2 Tips To Help Alleviate Sensitiviy After A Crown Lengthening Procedure

Diane Mason

If you have a tooth that has broken off near your gum line, then your dentist may suggest a crown lengthening procedure. In order to properly place a crown, there needs to be a certain amount of tooth that your dentist can use as a foundation. When not enough of the tooth has been exposed, then your dentist will use crown lengthening to pull back your gums and expose the roots of your tooth. This can result in increased sensitivity once the procedure is complete. You may find it difficult to eat or speak under extreme temperatures. Fortunately, there are a few tips that you can use to help alleviate your sensitivity following your crown lengthening procedure.

Brush Using a Sensitivity Toothpaste

Traditional toothpastes are designed to work on teeth that do not suffer from sensitivity. They will help you to remove bacteria from your teeth, but they will not do anything to help ease your sensitivity. Therefore, you should consider swapping out your normal toothpaste for a sensitivity toothpaste. These toothpastes are designed to add extra fluoride back into your teeth. Fluoride is what strengthens your teeth and your enamel. It allows your teeth to be exposed to cold foods and hot drinks without any issues. Use the fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day following your procedure in order to alleviate your sensitivity.

Drink Analgesic Herbal Teas

Analgesic herbs are herbs that help to aid in pain relief. They work similarly to the way aspirin does and are commonly used to help ease sore muscles and headaches. When used on your sensitive teeth, they will help to alleviate any pain and discomfort that your teeth are causing. An easy way to make analgesic tea is with balsam fir. This herb contains an extremely fresh scent that makes it great to drink at any time of the day.

Simply add a spoonful of the herb to a cup and pour in boiling hot water. Wait for the tea to cool and strain the herb from the mixture. Add in lime juice and maple syrup to help balance the taste and drink the tea throughout the day. In order to get the best results, drink the tea at least three times a day. You should begin to notice a reduction in your sensitivity within a few days.

Crown lengthening is a good procedure to help ensure that your crowns last long after the installation is complete. Therefore, use these tips to help alleviate your tooth sensitivity.

Understanding Root Canal Procedures

Hey everyone. My name is Jaheem Gherdley. I made this site to talk about root canal procedures. Root canals are usually performed to save broken or rotten teeth. My situation did not deviate from this norm. I was eating my favorite crunchy snacks when my tooth broke straight down the middle. I ignored this development until an infection set in deep in the root of my tooth. My dentist urged me to come right in for an emergency root canal to save the tooth and stop the spread of infection. The procedure stopped the pain and kept my tooth in place. From that point on, I decided to learn all I can about root canals. I will share the information I've gathered with you to help you understand the importance of this procedure. Thanks for stopping by.
